For sale is a vintage Bruno Ventura Model 1586 Classical Guitar with original case, made in Japan. The guitar is in good condition for its age, it has the usual scratches and scrapes of a guitar from the 1960's, the tuners work fine, the neck joint is tight, ther are no cracks or breaks. Ventura bruno guitar Model 1586. I just bought a Ventura V200S acoustic guitar, trying to figure out the year made. It reads 141273 as the serial number. It says it built in Japan. Any info on these guitars. Submitted by june barnes on Tue, - 17:59. My 75 yr old mother has guitar given to her by my grandfather. It's a Ventura Bruno model V-10 serial #88204. Any idea what it's worth? Fernandes created faithful recreations of Fender instruments; and Takamine and Suzuki both made acoustic guitars nearly identical to certain Martin models. Interestingly, most Japanese copies of the time didn’t have serial numbers — a great way to tell if an instrument is truly a “lawsuit” guitar, even today.

Ventura was a brand of stringed instruments imported from Japan by C. Bruno and Company during the 1960s and 1970s. C. Bruno was bought by Kaman (Ovation) in the early 1980s, after which the brand disappeared. Some of the Ventura guitars were knock-offs of the Martin line, such as the Ventura V-35 appearing similar to the Martin D-35, and the Ventura V-14 / Martin D-14.
The Ventura line included guitars (classical, western, folk, concert, flamenco, electric, electro-acoustic), banjos, mandolins, and bass guitars.

Kaman Industries (parent company of Ovation) actually acquired C Bruno & Son in 1971. Although there isn't much in the way of records from this period, it is believed that Kaman contracted with manufacturers such as 'Matsumoku' (parent company of brands such as Aria) from 1971 until the brand was discontinued in 1982. There is also evidence that C. Bruno contracted with other companies before the 1971 Kaman acquisition such as 'Kasuga' and others.[1]

I have this presumably '70s Ventura guitar that belonged to my wife's deceased mother, which I acquired out of a shed on the property in a standard fiberboard case and left in the elements for years. I got this in my possession about 5 or 6 years ago and cleaned it up, adjusted things, etc and surprisingly it plays fairly well until you get too high up on the neck...

The ones I've googled have always had the Ventura name across the headstock, and also there were serial numbers above the model number on the tag inside. This one has neither. I know she got the guitar sometime in the mid 70s but no one knows for sure when, and I'd sure like to get an approximate build date if it's at all possible...
It's honestly a great kickaround guitar and I enjoy playing with it more than my Martin DM. Btw, it's strung lefty for obvious reasons.
